John Michelson

CA Technologies
CTO

As the Chief Technology Officer of CA Technologies, John is responsible for technical leadership and innovation, further developing the company’s technical community and aligning the company’s software strategy, architecture and partner relationships to deliver customer value. John is also responsible for delivering common technology services, ensuring architectural compliance and integration of the company's products and solutions.

A holder of multiple patents including market-leading inventions delivered in database, distributed computing, virtual/cloud management, multi-channel web application portals, Service Virtualization (LISA), and many others, John is a factory of innovation.

In 1999, John founded ITKO, now a part of CA Technologies.  John was CEO for the first six years of the company’s success and recruited funding and other top management, including his successor CEO.  Under his product leadership, ITKO’s LISA solution suite grew in breadth and depth to tackle some of the world’s most difficult challenges. CA LISA’s capabilities now deliver 1000%+ ROI for customers and are the leading offering in a market he invented called Service Virtualization.

Prior to ITKO, John’s broad technology experience includes leading SaaS and E-commerce transformations for global enterprises at Trilogy and Agency.com. He has also founded a boutique custom software firm that focused on distributed, mission critical application development projects for customers like American Airlines, Citibank, and Xerox.

John has earned degrees in Business and Computer Science from Trinity University and Columbus University. An author of a best practices book “Service Virtualization: Reality is Overrated,” John has contributed to dozens of leading technical journals and conference publications with topics ranging from hierarchical database techniques and agile development, to the customer delivery benefits of virtualization.
